Applicants should apply for marriage registration at a household registration office with reference to the following regulations:
- Both parties/a party have/has or had/had house registration in Taiwan and get married in Taiwan may apply for marriage registration to any household registration office.
- Both parties/a party have/has or had/had house registration in Taiwan and get married overseas may submit relevant documents to apply for marriage registration to an overseas embassy, representative office, or office of Taiwan (hereinafter called overseas office of Taiwan) or the organization or civilian organization established or appointed in Hong Kong and Macau by the Executive Yuan. After authenticating relevant documents, mail them to the jurisdiction household registration office of their household registration or the household registration office of their last move-out. Alternatively, applicants may apply for marriage registration at any household registration office.
- When both applicants have no household registration in Taiwan, they may apply for marriage registration at any household registration office after getting married in Taiwan. When they get married overseas, they may submit relevant documents to apply for marriage registration to an overseas office of Taiwan or the organization or civilian organization established or appointed in Hong Kong and Macau by the Executive Yuan. After authenticating relevant documents, mail them to the jurisdiction household registration office of the central government. Alternatively, applicants may apply for marriage registration at any household registration office.
