※Applicants with household registration in Taiwan previously:
(1) Application for restoration of nationality in Taiwan without leaving Taiwan during the application period:
- Apply for an entry certificate to the National Immigration Agency (NIA) of the Ministry of the Interior.
- Apply for move-in registration to the household registration office of the previous household registration.
- If not living in the original household address, bring the household register with move-out registration from the previous household address to apply for move-in registration to the jurisdiction household registration office of your current address.
- For moving in as an individual household, please submit documents supporting an individual household.
- For moving in the household of others, please bring the household register of the move-in household, chop of the head of household or personal seal.
- Apply for the household register (skip for moving into the household of others) and the citizen identity card at the same time.
(2) Application for restoration of nationality in Taiwan but leaving Taiwan before approval:
- After being approved to restore nationality and entering Taiwan with the passport of Taiwan or the entry certificate, bring the passport of Taiwan or the entry certificate with an immigration stamp and restoration of nationality certificate to apply for move-in registration at the household registration office of your previous household registration.
- If not living in the original household address, bring the household register with move-out registration from the previous household address to apply for move-in registration to the jurisdiction household registration office of your current address.
- For moving in as an individual household, please submit documents supporting an individual household.
- For moving in the household of others, please bring the household register of the move-in household, chop of the head of household or personal seal.
- Apply for the household register (skip for moving into the household of others) and the citizen identity card at the same time.
※Applicants without household registration in Taiwan:
- Referring to Article 9 of the Immigration Act, after continuously living in Taiwan for one year, or for two years with over 270 days of stay each year, or for five years with over 183 days of stay each year, those applying for a residency permit to the NIA may apply for permanent residency in Taiwan to NIA with reference to Article 10 of the same act. After being approved, a permanent residency certificate will be issued for NIA to mail to the household registration office where the applicant made household registration.
- For moving in as an individual household, please submit documents supporting an individual household.
- For moving in the household of others, please bring the household register of the move-in household, chop of the head of household or personal seal.
- Apply for the household register (skip for moving into the household of others) and the citizen identity card at the same time.
